WA PORTER (Ceramics)

70 miles north of Tokyo, in a rural town in the centre of Ibaraki prefecture, around 300 ceramic artists and craftsmen produce new works one by one.

This time, the exhibition theme is ‘soil’ and works will be displayed featuring light and shade, engobing, scraping, innumerable lines by inlaying, minimalistic surfaces, lifelike shape and beautiful glazes created from nature.

In London, the city of art, we would like to talk about the possible expressions of five Japanese ceramic artists making large items, such as pots, to tea cups and small dishes.
